founder story

Ty Dennis and Drew Hanna, both Year Level Coordinators at Doncaster Secondary College, saw a major gap in the way student interventions were being tracked. While schools were drowning in spreadsheets, key insights were getting missed—and students who needed support were slipping through the cracks.
Their idea began with a physical pinboard covered in student photos and colour-coded tags. It made the data visible, personal, and effective. When this simple system led to a noticeable improvement in attendance and gained recognition from the Victorian Department of Education, they knew it was time to scale the idea.
Partnering with Appomate, Ty and Drew transformed their analogue pinboard into a digital platform: Databoards. Today, it enables schools across the country to track academic, behavioural, and wellbeing interventions with clarity and speed—no spreadsheet required.
